Sugar Creek Hollow Saturday!!!!

Good Saturday morning! We have a PHENOMENAL challenge for you today over at Sugar Creek Hollow!

CIRCLES!!!!!!!!

We want to see circles ON your card or project,,,,,,,,,and/or the card SHAPE must be a circle!!!!

I had SO MUCH FUN with this project! It was one of those things that just grew and grew as I worked on it!!!!! And I have a TON of pics for this, so here we go!

I created a pretty glass canister for bath salts by reusing a Prima flower jar.

Here's my project!

I used Spellbinders circles large and spellbinders picot edge circles to create the circle behind which I glued lace before setting it on top of the glass jar and securing with pop dots. As you can see, I also created a matching tag for whatever gift giving occasion I eventually use this for!

Here's some more pictures!

I got this stunning image from Bumble Button, added a bow of gold ribbon, gold netting and some pearls,,,,,

Another gold netting bow tied around the neck of the jar, a prima flower and leaf,,,,,,

And then filled the jar with pretty pink bath salts for pennies!

I printed an additional image larger, and cut the front label from that with rectangles large.

Pretty, inexpensive, and will be beautiful in someone's bathroom!

I hope you enjoyed my circles project,,,,,,and thanks for looking! Run right over to SCH and load up your vintage, shabby chic, or primitive circles project!! And be sure to stop by Bumble Button and see all the gorgeous images they have FOR FREE!

Baby OH Baby!!!!

I am so in the baby mood right now! Don't ask me why, I do not have a new grand child on the way, there WAS a challenge to make something pink and baby over at HMF, but I MISSED posting because my camera was on the fritz sigh.

I'll post that project another day.

Today, I have some cards and a project using my NEW Graphic 45 Little Darlings paper. This paper is OH SO lucious and gorgeous, I just HAD to make some things.

So I started with this sweet little baby girl card,,,,,,,

I tell you, this paper is too darling! I used circles large, lacey ovals. spiral blossoms 1 and banner basics 1 to create this card. Easy peasy.

But that wasn't enough baby for me!

so I made this!

They are not intended as a set. If there were a set, I'd have inked both and used the same ribbon. They COULD make a lovely set,,,,,,,but the altered altoids tin is for my sister to put her baby's first year pics in (he turns 1 next month) and the other is simply a card to have in my stash.

Here's the inside of the tin!

And here's the little mini book open (untie the bow)

I started her off with one pic, but she can fill up the rest of it! Isn't my Nephew Robbie just adorable? I wanna smooch his little cheeks!

Thanks for looking, I should be posting a bit more now that my camera is fixed!

Have a lovely rest-of-the-weekend!

Shabby Chic Altered Tin and an announcement!

Good morning!!! I have the most exciting news!!!!!!

Are you ready for this? I have the distinct honor of being one of the DT members for Sugar Creek Hollow,,,,,,,,one of my absolute FAVORITE challenges in the whole of blog-land!!!!!!!

I may or may not have danced around the kitchen like a mad person when I was asked LOL.

AND this week's challenge is one of my FAVORITES that they do too! WOO HOOO off to a good start!

Trash to Treasure is this week's theme! Take something that would ordinarily head to the trash or the recycle bin, and make vintage/shabby chic/ or primitive TREASURE with it! Although you may USE scraps, they can not count for your "trash", so go get crafty with it and make something GORGEOUS.

Without further ado,,,,,,,,,,here is my "trash"! It's a cookie tin, the tall skinny kind.

I have been wanting to make something with this tin for weeks now! And I was so THRILLED that I get to use it for my first DT project with Sugar Creek Hollow!

Here's the front,,,,,

Here's the back,,,,,,,,,,

I covered the tin with this gorgeous pink, pearlescent paper from DCWV's Luxury Stack,,,,,,it's stunning. I found the vintage ballerinas on the Graphics Fairy, button to the right,,,,,,,,,,aren't they GORGEOUS? I just LOVE them,,,,,,I actually used the same prints for another project about a year ago, but they seemed so perfect for this project, I couldn't resist them.

I cut each of the prints out with Ovals large, and then matted with more pink DCWV Luxury Stack paper which I cut out with Lacey Ovals. I adhered beautiful white eyelet lace around the bottom and layered a string of pearls around that,,,,,,,,and trimmed the rim of the lid with 1/4 inch velvet ribbon. I covered the lid with more pink paper and then a gorgeous rose vintage image was adhered on top.

I cut several heart locks out with my big shot (spellbinders Heritage dies), glued them together for thickness and then painted the whole with TH crackle medium,,,,,,a bit of white paint and a center pearl to look shabby chic, and I hung that on a silky ribbon with a gold key. A gorgeous bow with both pink and white sheer ribbon, a flower and some looped pearls,  a vintage rose ticket, and she's done!

Here's a close up of the heart, key and bow,,,,

We at Sugar Creek Hollow would also like to welcome Sherri Willshire as guest designer!!!!! Click on the link to see her phenomenal stuff! Thanks so much, Sherri!

I hope you enjoyed the altered tin, thanks so much for looking, and be sure to go dig through your recycle bin and get crafty!!!!!!!

From Trash to Treasure!

Good morning,,,,I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend,,,I know I have been. I spent the better part of yesterday and several hours this morning working on an altered box for a challenge over at Sugar Creek Hollow,,,,,,omg, I love this site! I stumbled upon it quite by accident Saturday, and went immediately to work on my box!

The idea of this challenge is to take something from trash to treasure,,,It's a totally FUN challenge and I love it! You can find their challenge HERE! If you love vintage or shabby chic, this is a challenge for you!!!!!

I was delighted to play along for this one!

I apologize in advance for the unusual amount of pics in this post, but I had to show my box before,,,,,,,,and after.

so without further ado,,,,,,,here is my entry into the challenge,,,,,,

I got the yellow box a couple years ago,,,,,it was mailed to me, and I believe it was a "spring organizer",,,,,,,,there were different cards for which flowers to plant in which month, etc,,,,,

well, if you know me,,,,I KILL anything green and growing, just by walking by them,,,,,I'm amazed my children survived, but they came with their own sounding devices LOL!

I knew at the time that I'd do SOMETHING with the box, but I just could never decide WHAT. So I kept it,,,,,,,,,and kept it,,,,,,,and kept it,,,,,,

I considered trashing it many times, but it was a nice sturdy box, with a magnetic closure,,,,,,and I just couldn't bring myself to trash it,,,,,

and now I am so glad I didn't!

I covered the box with Recollections "Naughty or Nice" paper,,,,,a gorgeous stack of really vintage papers,,,,The large santa in the middle is also cut from that same stack and I cut him out using classic circles large nesties,,,,,,I made all the flowers and holly on my cricut, shaping them with a bone folder. I had some gorgeous antique lace that a friend found for me (Thanks Tereesa!) and I strung that along the bottom and then topped with a string of pearls and a hand made stick pin,,,,,and I hung a hand made tag and a large jingle bell on the side of the box with twine and a fancy hook. All the stamps used in my box are Crafty Secrets.

I inked everything with sepia ink to really antique it, including the corners of the box.

Most of the images are K and company, cut from last year's Christmas paper that I cut out in various ways,,,,,,,

For the inside, I covered all the index cards that came with it in Christmas paper from various stacks (mostly K and Co and Recollections) and then decorated each with images and gold corner embellishments,,,,,,,and a fancy "hook" that works perfectly well as a paper clip. Each of the tags is labeled with a label that represents some aspect of Christmas preparations. Gifts, Food, Shopping, receipts, etc. My "useless" box will now serve as a Christmas organizer for our family,,,,,I can keep track of all my shopping lists, gifts to purchase, cards to send, etc. There's room behind each tag for lists, receipts, etc.

I'd like to thank Sugar Creek Hollow for hosting such a fabulous challenge,,,,,,,I'd never have thought how to use this box without it! What was a nuisance that I simply couldn't let go, is now a gorgeous box that I can keep all my Christmas prep ideas and lists in. Thanks again for letting me play along!

There's still plenty of time if anyone else wants to create some treasure out of trash! Just click the link above, and get to work!!!!!

I am also entering this into the Addicted to Stamps blog challenge HERE! Such a bunch of vintagy goodness going on this week that I was able to use this for two challenges!

Thanks for looking, and I hope you enjoyed!!!!!! Please see my second post for an additional photo of the tags inside the box. I could only add five photos to this post!
